Rebranding the SPIRIT Fashion Show

Like his work, Andy Warhol has become an instantly recognizable icon. By presenting everyday subjects in unusual ways, his work makes the audience search for deeper meaning. This proposed hotel echos Warhol’s Pop Art iconography and becomes an architectural icon. It elicits an intense emotional reaction, producing a memorable place and experience. With its dynamic skin displaying changeable images, this floating 4,000 square foot box is an event space, a stage, a beacon, a landmark and an icon.

The Warhol Museum defines itself as “ever-changing, constantly redefining itself in relationship to contemporary life, using its unique collections and dynamic interactive programming as tools.” By including places to eat, sleep.

A Team Effort

The Warhol Museum defines itself as “ever-changing, constantly redefining itself in relationship to contemporary life, using its unique collections and dynamic interactive programming as tools.” By including places to eat, sleep, bathe and congregate, a hotel offers further opportunities to interact with visitors in dynamic and contemporary ways. Ultimately, the hotel is an amenity for and an extension of the museum, complementing the already iconic institution.

REflex - park - A Modular Playground System - Thesis 2014

We as humans learn and experience the world by naturally delineating that which we can and cannot manipulate. Due to the social limitations that come with public design, the malleable environment is virtually nonexistent in the architectural realm, effectively, separating the user from a sense of personalization, creativity, and self-inspired discovery. As we grow up we settle into this “don’t touch” and “do not enter” mindset until it becomes commonplaces. Rather than exploring our context, we simply accept it. This limits our full sense of place in the context and limits our sensual experience as well as binding our imagination, and warping our sense of what’s possible. REflex - park: A Modular Playground System is an exploratory thesis that challenges our modern conventions and understanding of what it simply means to play and have fun. It reimagines a new playground, one not built on foundations of metal or fiberglass or wood, but one built of imagination and possibility .
